FAQ Answers
  1. What precinct am I in?
If you’re in Lakewood Ranch or surrounding areas, you’re probably in precinct 75 or 139.  However, we can find out for you and put you in touch with precinct captains for your area.  Being a precinct captain was the job that Harry Truman said he thought was one of the most satisfying jobs he ever held.
  2. How do I join this club?
Email one of the board members listed on the site for a sign-up form and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
  3. Do I have to live in Lakewood Ranch to join?
No!  You can live in Panther Ridge, Rosedale or even way out in west Bradenton.  All are welcome.
  4. What does it mean to be a Democrat?
Being a Democrat means many different things to many different people, but as a generalization it means being tolerant of the diversity of our peoples and indeed finding strength in that diversity. It means thinking about our country’s challenges in a progressive way, looking to apply logic to solve problems and respecting the institutions of our past, while not being dictated to by them.  It means navigating the practical realities of our capital-driven socioeconomic system, while preserving the idealism of the founders.  Being a Democrat means promoting meaningful debate to keep governance honest.  Being a Democrat means being a patriot.
  5. What is an absentee ballot? Can anyone use one? How do I get one?
We encourage voting by absentee ballot because once you sign up, you can vote every election cycle from the comfort of your home.  You can also vote early and it’s not only okay with the supervisor of elections, it’s supported.  We can get you an easy-to-complete application and even help you fill it out, if you have questions.  Just email us or contact the supervisor of elections.
  6. Why should I vote for a Democrat?
If you truly believe every last vote should be counted, then you are a Democrat. If you are a Democrat, then vote for a Democrat.
  7. How can I work on ____________________'s campaign?
